Charcot describes various aspects of the clinical course of Parkinson's disease, including pain, dysautonomia and joint deformities. He documented both micrograph and tremors during writing. Commenting on Parkinson's Essay on the shaking palsy, Charcot told his students in 1888:
"This is a small booklet almost impossible to find. After a frustrating search, now has a copy thank Dr Windsor, librarian of the University of Manchester. Thing shorter than the job is, contains a number of fantastic ideas and I would encourage any of you to embark on a French translation .... Read the whole book and to provide the satisfaction and knowledge that always collects from a clinical direct description made by a careful and honest observer ".
